Reliable Apple leaker @ on Twitter has released information today suggesting that Apple will be hosting a Special Event in March 2021, where they will announce several new products.
According to the leaker, Apple will host the event on March 23rd, 2021. This means the event would be taking place on a Tuesday, which would line up with Apple’s previous special events in March.
The leaker says that Apple will be unveiling an ‘iPhone 12R’, which is likely to be a cheaper version of one of the four iPhone 12 models that will be unveiled in the coming months. This name is only a placeholder and the actual name for this iPhone is unknown and will be decided upon.
The next product that will be shown at the event is a new iPad Pro with a 12.9” mini-LED display. This iPad was rumoured to be announced this October, although recent leaks have suggested that Apple have pushed it back. As for an 11” model, the leaker says that we will see the 11” model with a mini-LED display in either October 2020 or October 2021. He doesn’t elaborate on which year.
Following this, Apple may announce a cheaper, budget-model Apple Watch. This isn’t the first time that we have heard that Apple are working on cheaper Apple Watch models. This Apple Watch is likely to use the Series 4/5 design and will not have ECG, Fall Detection, or an always-on-display. It would likely get a better processor than the Series 3 Apple currently sell as a cheap alternative to the Series 5.
The leaker also expects Apple to unveil the 3rd generation AirPods, which are expected to have the same design as the first and second generation AirPods, but may feature active noise cancellation and more features from the AirPods Pro model.
The last products the leaker expects to be announced is the iPad Air 4th generation and the iPad mini 6th generation. Very little is known about both these iPads, but it’s likely to just be a processor and camera update.
If this leak is true, this means that we should be seeing all these products on the 23rd of March 2021. Of course, as with all leaks, this one should be taken with a grain of salt. Apple’s plans change all the time, so nothing is official until it’s confirmed by Apple.
