has released the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 distribution schedule on Twitter today. Additionally, he confirmed the final marketing names and storage sizes of the upcoming iPhones.
Prosser says that the first shipment of iPhone 12 models will be sent out to distributors on October 5th. It should be noted that the “distributors” he’s speaking of are not Apple Stores or retailers. These are the people that send the iPhones to the retailers (e.g. Apple Stores) for launch day after the official announcement.
In the first shipment, Prosser says that it will include “iPhone 12 mini” (5.4”) and “iPhone 12” (6.1”) models. He also says that “iPhone 12 mini” is the final marketing name for 5.4” iPhone. Additionally, both iPhones storage will begin at 64GB and will be configurable to 128GB or 256GB. He also says that both Pro models will start at 128GB storage.
Considering only the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 are included in this shipment, it’s likely that the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will not be arriving until a later date. However, Prosser has said that the Pro models will be unveiled at the event alongside the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12.
Finally, he says that the October event, where the iPhone 12 and AirTags are expected to be announced, will happen on October 13th. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event will likely be pre-recorded and live streamed on October 13th, similar to the WWDC 2020 and “Time Flies” events that occurred this year.
