In addition to the new lossless audio feature coming to Apple Music, Apple also announced two new 2021 Pride Bands in support of the LGBTQ+ movement.
The first new band is a braided solo loop composed of a mix of the Pride colours, black and brown colours to represent the Black and Latino communities as well as representing those who have passed due to or live with HIV/AIDS, and light blue, pink, and white represent transgender and non-binary individuals. This band is priced at $99.
The second new band is a Nike Sport loop showing the colours of the Pride flag surrounded by a white woven body. This band is priced at $49.
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, said the following: “Even before the events at the Stonewall Inn brought the LGBTQ+ movement to new prominence, Black, Brown, and transgender activists were key leaders in the march toward equality. On many fronts, Apple supports the ongoing and unfinished work of equality for diverse and intersectional communities, and we want to provide every opportunity to celebrate and honor this history during Pride season.”
In addition to the new watch bands, Apple is also introducing a new Pride watch face for the Apple Watch. The new face is designed to match the colours of the new braided loop and changes and moves when you move the Digital Crown. Apple is including an App Clip in the box for the new bands that will automatically set your Apple Watch face to the matching face for the band.
The new bands are available to order today on the Apple Store app and apple.com. The new bands will be available in Apple Store locations on May 25th. The braided solo loop is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or later and the Nike Pride band is compatible with Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
