Sonny Dickson, a reliable leaker, has shared iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro case renders, which show a smaller notch, design changes, and more.
Around this time of year, case renders typically begin to leak. Case renders generally occur because, around this time of year, Apple begins to inform case manufactures of the dimensions of upcoming models. This is to give enough time for case manufactures to design, test, and produce cases for the new devices in time for launch. Apple will never share new features of the devices or the naming of the devices with these manufactures.
Although Sonny Dickson doesn’t specify where the leaked renders came from, the renders show mainly a smaller notch, new camera placement, and more.
Beginning with the notch, the renders show a significantly smaller notch. Although the height of the notch doesn’t seemed to have changed compared to previous models, the width of the notch has significantly reduced. This is particularly evident on the iPhone 13 Pro Max model.
On the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13, the camera placement has been changed. Instead of both the Wide and Ultra Wide cameras being in a vertical line along the left side of the camera housing, they are now placed at an angle travelling from the top right to the bottom left of the camera housing. It is unknown what benefits this change will have for the cameras, but this change has been leaked several times over the past few months.
As a result of the aforementioned change in the camera placement, the flash module has been moved to above the lens on the right side of the camera housing and the microphone has been moved to the opposite side.
On the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the three rear cameras have increased slightly in size, although this change is likely not very noticeable compared to the iPhone 12 Pro’s cameras. Although this isn’t confirmed by these renders, many leaks have suggested that Apple will be increasing the depth of the cameras to accommodate new features and technologies in the camera.
Apple is likely going to announce the new iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max sometime in early to mid September. As with all leaks, it’s advised that this leak is taken with a grain of salt – nothing is official until Apple themselves confirm it.
