DuanRui, a reliable leaker on Twitter, shared more images from Weibo of dummy models of the upcoming iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, which shows some interesting design changes compared to it’s predecessor.
Dummy units normally begin to leak around the Summer before any new iPhone models is announced officially by Apple. The dummy units are normally made for case manufacturers so the case designers can create and test their cases on the dummy units so they are ready for release by the time the new iPhone is released.
In the images leaked today, all four models of the upcoming iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are shown. This year’s lineup is consisting of the same four models as the iPhone 12 lineup – iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. In some of the newly released images, the dummy model of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Just like some of the other dummy models that have leaked over the last few weeks, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini models dual-camera layout has been redesigned from a vertical alignment to a diagonal alignment, with the Wide lens is in the top left corner and the Ultra Wide lens in the bottom right corner. The flash module is above the Ultra Wide lens and the microphone is moved to below the Wide lens.
Interestingly, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max camera modules have changed slightly. On the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, all three camera modules are the same size as each other whereas this leak suggests that the Wide lens will be smaller than the Telephoto and Ultra Wide lens, both of which are the same size as each other.
Why Apple have made this change is strange, considering the Wide and Ultra Wide lenses on the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 dummy models are the same.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro models are expected to be officially announced and released by Apple this September.
