Since June, Apple have been releasing betas of iOS 13, their newest operating system for the iPhone. As we approach September, we are getting closer and closer to the official release of the iOS 13. So, what date will the official release of iOS 13 be?
So, to predict a date, we’ll have to look back over all the previous releases of iOS and the dates that they were released. Normally the official release of an iOS update released a few days after the Apple Special Event (where Apple announce the next generation of iPhones, Apple Watches, and more).
Let’s start with iOS 10, which launched on Tuesday September 13th 2016, which was 6 days after the Apple Special Event, which occurred on Wednesday, the 7th of September. Following this in 2017, iOS 11 was released to everyone on Tuesday September 19th, 2017. This was about one week following the iPhone X Apple Special Event, which was on Tuesday, the 12th of September 2017. Then, in 2018, iOS 12 succeeded iOS 11 on Monday September 17th 2018, which was about 5 days following the Apple Special Event which was on Wednesday, the 12th of September.
So, there is a pattern there. In 2016, there was a 6 day gap between the event and the official release. In 2017, there was a 7 day break between the Special Event and the release. In 2018, there was a 5 day gap between the event and the release. It should also be noted that for 2016 and 2017, the official release occurred on a Tuesday, where as in 2018, the release arrived on a Monday.
This means that the release always occurs on the Monday or Tuesday following the Apple Special Event. This means that we would then have to incorporate the predicted date that the Apple Special Event would be on, which we tried to figure out, and we came up with September 10th, 2019. If we apply the pattern to the date that we have predicted, that would mean that iOS 13 should officially be released to the public on Tuesday, September 17th, 2019. This of course could be the Monday following the event, which would mean that the release would be occurring on Monday the 16th of September.
I, for one, am really excited for iOS 13 to arrive to my main devices. I’ve been testing it on my secondary devices for months, and I genuinely think that this is a great update with some incredibly cool features. Are you looking forward to iOS 13? Let us know in the comments or tweet at us on !
