Apple leaker Macotakara posted a new blog post today detailing what they believe to be an early model for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is expected to be officially announced in September of 2020.
The most prominent new features about this leaked model is that it features an iPad Pro-esque square chassis. It’s has been long rumoured that Apple would be taking the iPad Pro chassis design and adopting it to the 2020 iPhones.
According to Macotakara, this iPhone will be measuring in at 1mm higher than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 Pro Max’s height is 150mm, and this iPhone 12 model is 159mm.
Also, Macotakara noted that this model is significantly thinner compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 Peo Max is 8.1mm thick, and this model is 7.1mm thick. This means that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is around the same thickness as the iPhone 6S Plus.
One new feature that is very interesting about this iPhone model is at the side of the phone. On the left side of the model, there is a smart connector that is the same Smart Connector that is on the 3rd Generation iPad Pro 11” and 12.9”. Due to the iPhone being significantly smaller than the iPad Pro models, it is presumed that Apple will be making a smaller, more compact Apple Pencil specifically for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Macotakara also notes that all of the buttons on the phone have been moved further down the chassis of the iPhone. They also note that Apple are likely to return to the Flat glass (also featured in the 3rd Generation iPad Pro models) instead of the regular 2.5D glass. However, this is unconfirmed by the model.
That is all of the information that Macotakara shared about this alleged iPhone 12 Pro Max model. However, as with all leaks, it cannot be guaranteed that Apple will release this model. Macotakara acknowledges that they can not verify the credibility of both the model and the leaker. Please take this leak with a grain of salt.
Macotakara has released a video and pictures showing off the model, so take a look at those here. You can see all the images they released regarding this model below:
