Apple today unveiled a new ‘Apple Gift Card’ that merges the Apple Store gift card and App Store/iTunes gift card into to one card that can be used for both hardware and software products. The card features a new design that shows an Apple logo with various abstract artwork in the Apple logo.
Previously, Apple offered two gift cards – an Apple Store gift card that only works when purchasing hardware devices from the Apple Store or Apple Online Store and an App Store and iTunes Store Gift Card that only worked when buying Apple Services, songs, iCloud subscriptions, etc.
With the Apple Gift Card, you can purchase any of the following things using the amounts stored on the gift card:
Hardware
- Mac
- iPhone
- iPad
- iPod
- Apple Watch
- AirPods
- Accessories
Software
- App Store
- Apple Arcade
- Apple Music
- Apple TV+
- iTunes
- iCloud
- Apple Books
- Apple News+
You can also deposit money into your Apple Account Balance, which can be used across both the Apple Store and iTunes Store. If you own one of the previous Apple gift cards, Apple says that they are still valid and can be used as normal.
As of now, this new gift card is only available in the U.S., although it’s likely the worldwide rollout will be happening over the next few months/weeks. It could also be possible that Apple have yet to update their gift card website in other regions.
