Apple’s virtual WWDC 2020 being held June 22nd

Apple have announced that the new virtual WWDC 2020 conference will be held on June 22nd. The conference will be live streamed via the Apple Developer app and the Apple Developer website. Alongside this, the conference will be free for everyone to attend.

Alongside the new WWDC, Apple is also introducing the Swift Student Challenge, which Apple says is “an opportunity for student developers to showcase their love of coding by creating their own Swift playground”.

For the Swift Student Playground, Apple is asking developers to submit a Swift Playground that can be experienced in 3 minutes or less. If you win, Apple will gift you a special WWDC20 jacket and pin set. More information on the Swift Student Playground can be found here.

WWDC 2020 is where iOS 14, macOS 10.16, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14 are expected to be announced. Normally, Apple announce a new Pride band for the Apple Watch at WWDC every year, although it is likely to be simply uploaded to the Apple Store at the beginning of June.
