Apple announced iOS 14 and watchOS 7 earlier this week, both of which feature new features such as widgets, an upgraded home screen, app library, and more on the iPhone and sleep mode, new workouts, and more on the Apple Watch.

One of the new features that was announced was CarKey, which gives the future owners of certain BMW models that will be made from July 2020 onwards to open their cars with their iPhone and/or Apple Watch. Surprisingly, Apple announced that this feature would not be exclusive to iOS 14 and would be coming the the future release of iOS 13.6.

At the announcement, they didn’t specify what iPhone and Apple Watch models work with CarKey, but on the iOS 14 website under the notes footer at the bottom of the website, Apple have listed the models of iPhone and Apple Watch that will work with CarKey.

Apple Watch

If your device model is not on the list above, this unfortunate means that you will not be able to use CarKey when it launches with iOS 13.6 in the coming days/weeks.

iOS 14 and watchOS 7 are expected to launch this Fall alongside iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, and macOS 11 Big Sur.
