Reliable Apple Leaker has released information today regarding next year’s iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Firstly, says that the iPhone 13 Pro will be utilising a new micro-LED display instead of the OLED displays currently found in the iPhone 11 Pro. Micro-LED generally has higher brightness capabilities compared to OLED and could potentially reduce power consumption.
also says that the iPhone 13 Pro will be getting a brand new camera system, but does not elaborate on what this new camera system entails. In the concept images he attached with the tweet, the camera system is quite clear. It would seem as though the iPhone 13 Pro will have three cameras, a flash unit, and what appears to be a LiDAR sensor.
Many leakers have suggested that Apple will be bringing the LiDAR sensor from the 2020 iPad Pro to the iPhone 12 Pro this year, but recently, some leakers have said that this would not be the case. If this is true and the LiDAR sensor will not be arriving to this year’s iPhones, it does certainly mean that we could see the LiDAR sensor on the iPhone 13 Pro.
Next, says that the iPhone 13 Pro will be getting in-display Touch ID. He doesn’t elaborate on how it will work or if it will replace Face ID, but he does say that it will be one of the features of this new iPhone. Alongside this, also says that the iPhone 13 models will be using a new version of Apple’s custom CPUs – the A15 chip, which says will be 5nm in size. This would make the A15 two nanometers smaller than the current 7nm A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11-series.
Alongside this, says that the iPhone 13 Pro will have a new feature called ‘PowerDrop’, which he says is reverse charging. ‘PowerDrop’ is presumably Apple’s marketing name for reverse charging. If ‘PowerDrop’ is designed to work with other iPhones, this means that you could potentially charge another iPhone 13 using your iPhone 13. Alternatively, Apple could make it so that PowerDrop charges your Apple Watch or AirPods.
Lastly, and perhaps the most interesting, is that shares some details regarding the high-end iPhone 13 Pro Max. He says that, in addition to all the new features aforementioned, the iPhone 13 Pro Max will be getting a brand new all-screen design with no notch. This new all-screen notchless display will be exclusive to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
also shared a concept he created based on this information and it shows what the iPhone 13 Pro Max may look like. As you can see in the concept above, the iPhone 13 Pro Max will have a bezel surrounding the edges of the phone. On the top of the phone, there will be a housing for the speaker and presumably a compact version of the Face ID sensors.
That is everything had to share regarding the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max. He says that all of these features and models are currently in testing, and although some of these features may not make it to the final product, Apple are trying to make all these features come true.
Following Apple’s traditional release schedule, it could be expected that Apple will announce the iPhone 13 in September 2021.
