According to a new report released by the Fast Company today, Apple are planning to release the long-awaited ‘iPhone 9’ for a retail price of $399, which would make it the same price as the iPhone SE when it launched in March 2016.
Fast Company does not reference the credibility of the source, so do take this report with a grain of salt. However, this is not the first time that we have heard that the iPhone 9 will be sold for $399.
According to Ming Chi Kuo, for $399, you will get a 4.7” Retina display, 64GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and the A13 Bionic chip. Unlike the most recent X-series iPhones, the iPhone 9 will be using Touch ID instead of Face ID as found in all iPhone models since the iPhone X in 2017.
The biggest difference between this iPhone and the iPhone 11 will be the price and the form factor. The iPhone 9 will be using an iPhone 8-esque body, with thicker top and bottom bezels, just like the iPhone 8/7/6s/6. On the rear of the phone, it is rumoured that the iPhone 9 will feature a single-lens camera, similar to the one found in the iPhone XR.
As with all of these leaks, please take this report with a grain of salt. The only time we know for definite what Apple is doing is when Apple actually announce a product. Other than that, it’s mostly speculation.
