iPhone 12 to not have Smart Connector; will be used on future portless iPhone for charging

Apple leaker Jon Prosser (@) has shared some new information regarding the rumoured Smart Connector on the iPhone 12. 

According to a new tweet from Prosser, he says that the iPhone 12 will not have a Smart Connector, despite recent rumours and leaks suggesting that Apple will be adding it to this year’s iPhone models.

No smart-connector on iPhone 12.

No doubt that it may be on a future prototype — but it’ll be used for charging on a portless iPhone.

Definitely no Apple Pencil support.

However, Prosser says that the Smart Connector on an iPhone is an idea that Apple is experimenting with. He also says that Apple will be using the Smart Connector on a future portless iPhone for charging.

He goes on to say that Apple will not be adding Apple Pencil support to this year’s iPhone models.

As of now, this is all Prosser had to say regarding the Smart Connector on the iPhone, but it is still unknown how Apple will utilise the Smart Connector in order to help a portless iPhone charge.
